Agree.
I think a big part of the problem is the audience; people's unwillingness to support new ideas.
How many World War II games did we have? People were buying the games and the publishers kept milking the genre. After the success of Modern Warfare, it's all about "modern" shooters nowadays despite Activision's reluctance to allow IW to create a modern shooter rather than a WWII-themed one in the beginning.
All the industry needs is on...
Is that the cheap home-ripoff that charges you to play games that are available all over the web for free?
There are lots of ideas that are yet to be put into horror games and flicks.
Obviosuly, Sony will have the most (and best) games and probably some crazy Move demos and games.
Nintendo will focus on their new DS and one game. They make one half-decent game a year nowadays.
Microsoft will focus on Natal and, again, may call some uninteresting big names to their stage to try out some Natal games and demos.
For me, Sony is a winner from now, but I suspect the media will be praising MS and Nintendo. Remeber how most people sai...
He makes some valid points, especially the split-up parts in games which tend to annoy the hell out of me. It's in almost every scary/horror game/movie.
What about the gory death scenes? Once you see the death of one character in the story, you have seen them all. The same pattern shows itself again and again only with different monsters/ghosts killing a different character.
Also, the Heavy Rain example is quite valid and is important not only for horror games, ...
JRPGs never were that popular in the West. Most people are misled by Final Fantasy sales numbers. Final Fantasy was probably the only super-successful RPG franchise in the West. I think the major contributor was Sony's super massive advertising campaign for Final Fantasy VII as well as the original PlayStation in the US. I think I saw a source that said that Sony had spent close to a hundred million dollars advertising FFVII. It sold some 10 million copies and created a solid fanbase for the ...
I think the hardcore Xbox 360 fans should refrain from mentioning Natal as their killer app. Microsoft is only after the casual Wii market with Natal and this piece of news pretty much confirms it.
Comparing an RPG with an action game isn't a very wise thing to do. I'm 10 hours into FF13 now. It took me just over 11 hours to beat GoW3. I couldn't put the controller down during GoW3 while for FF13, I'm just using the analog stick and X button most of the time. I even beat a boss while I was talking on the phone. Just run into a monster and press X until the battle is over, do the same again until you get into a cutscene only to be annoyed by Vanille, repeat the same process.
Really interested in what this game has to offer. By the looks of it, it looks like a fantastic game.
You sound like a Sony hater to me and this may cloud your judgement. I'm not bashing Nintendo, I'm simply trying to state the facts and the facts contradict the opinion that you hold. Nintendo isn't "that" innovative.
Your list is wrong on many levels and I'll leave it at that.
Instead of using bold words, it tells you what you need to know about the game.
I didn't read the part about the story as I feared it might spoil something for me but the rest is well-written and informative. It's clear that this guy played the game as a gamer rather than a paid journalist on a deadline.
I'm currently playing the game and it's even better than I expected. Some lucky bastard I am. :)
I have had this argument several times; it never ends well mainly because the other party refuses to admit the facts.
GameOn, if an analogue stick is an innovation, then Sony's use of CD in the original PlayStation would be considered mega-innovation for console gaming. That analogue added little to gaming while CD gave us all of the great games and franchises we came to love (though Sega had CD as an add-on before, just like touch was available on PDAs before the DS). Sony als...
Some gaming blogs are like plague, making flamebait titles out of words which are taken out of context (Kotaku, Destructoid, Joystiq, and other smaller blogs).
I agree with this article in that most people who bash games have never played the games themselves. I may dislike a game but I never bash it without playing it myself. Trust me, most of the time you'll change your mind after playing the game yourself.
I think this article is directed at the bots who unjustly speak of masterpieces such as Killzone 2, Heavy Rain, and lots of other great titles.
I'm not sure but I think I might have seen this piece of news a while ago.
I don't remember Nintendo innovating with GBC, GBA, SNES, N64, and GC.
Gaming is not about Miyamoto, Kutaragi, or J. Allard. I don't care how innovative Wii, Move, or Natal are, I know for a fact that more power and HD offer a unique experience that a "whole new compelling experience" may not be able to replicate.
What is innoveation anyway? Two screens? A touch screen? Motion sensing? Nintendo takes credit for dual screens and that's it. Where is the ...
Either way, if it was up to me, I'd save the big announcements for E3.
The next Killzone will be epic, you can quote me on that.
Take your trolling elsewhere. This is about a new leaked GT5 video, either offer your opinion or go troll in the Open Zone.

Wow@vids. Amazing videos! I never doubt Polyphony's ability to deliever and so no videos are necessary to confirm their craftsmanship. I just hope the game doesn't remove the challenge of starting with a crappy car and working your way up all the way to the 1,000+ hp supercars.
Siren was pretty good. Maybe you should give it a try if you haven't already.
